Cutie Pie Designs

I learned to sew and knit as a young teenager, through an awesome Home Ec teacher and a Girl Scout leader.  After pursuing other things for many years I rediscovered my love for sewing and knitting in 1994, when I began to sew for my children.

Shortly thereafter, in 1996, I began a childrens clothing business called Cutie Pie Fashions.  I  made custom clothing to order, began a *home fashion show*  party plan, and continued to sew for my children and family.

In 2001, we made the choice to home school our children, so the sewing room was turned into a classroom, and the business was put aside to concentrate on schooling.  As the children grew more independent, I was able to spend more time on my business pursuits.

I began knitting seriously as a business, making custom clothing once again for friends and family.  I started a website to sell my clothing online.  The problem was the lack of designers that would allow independent crafters to make items to sell using their patterns.  The only solution was to begin to design my own clothing line, so Cutie Pie Designs was born.

I am a self taught designer, having spent many hours researching and reading about the skills needed to learn clothing design.  Having had much experience sewing, gave me a lot of knowledge about how clothing is constructed, which is an essential skill in being able to design.  Experience knitting, gave me the tools I needed to master knitting techniques and be able to shape the fabric in the way I want.   Learning is an ongoing pastime, there are always new techniques to master.

 I design sweaters for children ranging in age from Newborn to about 18 months.  I am now beginning to expand my line to include older childrens sizes up to about 10 years, and soon up to 14 years and for teens.

I have been published in Knit Circus Magazine and also in Petite Purls, in addition to self publishing some designs.  I can be found on Ravelry and on Etsy as cutiepiefashions.  My designs sell in my local knit shop, 4Corners Knitting.

I am in the process of working on some new designs that I am very excited about  I hope you will come back and see what is new.
